The command and staff exercises were organized at the Aktau head oil pumping station (HOPS) of the Mangistau Oil Pipeline Department of the KazTransOil Company.
Specialists of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, KazMunayGas JSC, KazTransOil JSC, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as medical and emergency services took part in the exercises.
They worked out an action plan and coordination in responding to the accident and eliminating its consequences. According to the scenario, oil caught fire on one of the HOPS tanks, an explosion occurred, and the tank partially collapsed.
One of the workers was injured. Information about the emergency was promptly transmitted to the management of the enterprise, local authorities and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and then to the operational services of KazTransOil, KazMunayGas and Samruk-Kazyna.

The fire was jointly liquidated by the fire-fighting units of KazTransOil and Caspi Bitumen JV from Aktau, as well as the fire train of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. The HOPS workers stopped the work of the station within a few minutes, closed the valves of the oil pipeline and evacuated to a safe distance.
KMG and KazTransOil have deployed Crisis Management Teams (CMT). Interdepartmental cooperation and coordination at all levels have been worked out. In 2023, Samruk-Kazyna plans to cascade the gained experience and practice of the KazMunayGas crisis management team to other companies of the Fund Group.
