Forest fires in Kostanay region began in the afternoon of September 2 and spread to settlements. About a hundred houses were destroyed or damaged by fire, more than 2 thousand people lost their homes. The fire area exceeded 43 thousand hectares. Extinguishing continues in some areas. Unfortunately, there were casualties: 12 people were injured and burned, one died.

KTZ fire trains

From the first hours of the disaster, 250 railway workers were involved in extinguishing fires. Now five fire trains are working on the site, which continue to provide water to fire crews and protect infrastructure facilities, and 280 railway workers. During these days, the trains filled with water more than 200 cars of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Delivery of humanitarian aid

Kazpost transports humanitarian supplies collected by volunteers at its own expense from Nur-Sultan to Kostanay and further to the most affected Auliekol district. On September 6, mainline tractors delivered about 6 tons of aid from the capital.

In touch with the relatives

Kazakhtelecom has completely released residents of Auliekolsky district from the subscription fee for communication until the end of the year. All debts additionally were written off form the residents of the three most affected villages (Amankaragai, Ozernoye, Lesnoye). The company will replace all telecommunications equipment affected by the fire free of charge and restore damaged communication lines.

Extraordinary grants

The Samruk-Kazyna Trust Charitable Fund has announced extraordinary grants for NGOs in Kostanay region to finance social projects to help victims. The Fund is open to any proposals from Kostanay activists who know better than others about the real needs of the region’s residents.

Assistance to veterans

Within the framework of the current charity project “Zhenis” from Samruk-Kazyna Trust, volunteers will help every WWII veteran and home front worker in Kostanay region. Pensioners will receive food and basic necessities.

Medical care

Since September 11, the medical train “Salamatty Kazakhstan”, launched by the Samruk-Kazyna Trust Fund, will arrive in Kostanay region. By the end of September, doctors will help residents of 9 stations.

Support from oil companies workers

The management of the company “Karazhanbasmunai” and those who want to help from among the employees transferred one-day wages to the account of the unified fund to the victims of the fire “Kaiyrymdylyk KZ”.
