Samruk-Kazyna CEO Akhmetzhan Yessimov visited the construction site of the KPI complex, the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk during a working trip to Atyrau and Mangystau regions and held a meeting with oil workers and the leadership of the regions.

During the meeting, the CEO of the Fund stressed that the country's oil industry has experienced the peak of another crisis. At the same time, thanks to the optimization measures taken in the Fund's group of companies, reserves for KZT422 bln were created. However, Yessimov stressed, it is necessary to carry out further work to improve the operational efficiency of ‘oil industry’, in particular, to take measures regarding the unprofitable well stock.

Mayors of Mangistau and Atyrau regions Serikbay Trumov and Makhambet Dosmukhambetov thanked the Fund's management for the anti-crisis measures taken. As a result, not a single employee has been reduced since the beginning of the crisis period, and salaries are still paid even in service companies whose activities have been temporarily suspended.

"Despite the ongoing optimization due to the decline in production, the priority remains to maintain jobs in production and the implementation of production programs for the current year. There is a lag from the plan. The management of companies needs to take measures aimed at achieving the planned indicators," Akhmetzhan Yessimov said.

The construction of one of the largest industrial enterprises in the years of independence – the petrochemical complex KPI-is completed by 74%. Completion is scheduled for 2021. The project will produce up to 500 thousand tons of polypropylene per year. A. Yessimov drew attention to further compliance with the schedule.

The head of the Fund expressed criticism of the management of some of the Fund's subsidiaries. The latter, despite the obvious cheapness of electricity generated at the Karabatan PSPP, continue to buy it from other sources for unknown reasons.

In Aktau, the head of the Fund got acquainted with the current situation in the ports of Kuryk and Aktau. Recall that these infrastructure facilities are of great importance for the transit potential of the country. The pandemic situation in South-East Asia, as well as some external factors, have affected their activities. Akhmetzhan Yessimov instructed the management of KTZ and the port of Kuryk to make joint efforts to increase the level of loading of the port.
