On September 14, the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi School in the Nurdağı district of Gaziantep Province welcomed its first students. The school is one of Kazakhstan’s projects aimed at helping to restore the region devastated by the powerful earthquake of February 6, 2023.

The school was built following a decision by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Nurdağı was one of the cities worst affected by the earthquake. In the first days following the disaster, Kazakh specialists participated in rescue operations there.

In accordance with the Head of State’s instructions and a resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an agreement was signed in 2024 between Samruk-Kazyna and KazAID to finance the construction of a school in the earthquake-affected region of Türkiye.

The school has a capacity of 900 students and employs 50 teachers. It features modern educational infrastructure and provides an environment conducive to comprehensive education and all-round development.
