President’s Visit to Brussels: Samruk-Kazyna Signs a Series of Agreements with International Partners

As part of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Belgium, companies within Samruk-Kazyna JSC signed a number of strategically important agreements with leading international partners.
Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Italy’s Maire S.p.A., and the Italy-Kazakhstan Trade Association (ACIK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate on the development of a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production project in Kazakhstan. The document reflects the parties’ intention to jointly develop and implement the project, which is expected to support the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy and strengthen Kazakhstan’s position in the sustainable aviation fuel market. The Memorandum was signed by Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, Alessandro Bernini, President of Maire, and Marco Beretta, President of ACIK.
Air Astana and Airbus (France) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on the development of aviation maintenance infrastructure. The agreement provides for the construction of hangar facilities and the expansion of aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities with Airbus’s support.
Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC and Alstom (France) signed a long-term service agreement covering 205 KZ6A electric locomotives scheduled for procurement beginning in 2029. The project will run through 2061 and will be implemented in Astana, Arys, Shu, and Almaty.
Kazatomprom JSC, Romania’s Nuclearelectrica, and the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest signed a Memorandum of Understanding to promote the exchange of expertise and best practices in the nuclear industry, as well as the implementation of joint educational programmes and initiatives aimed at developing highly skilled professionals for the sector.
Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu LLP and Genesis Oil & Gas Consultants Limited (Netherlands/United Kingdom) signed a contract for the preparation of a pre-feasibility study for the construction of a new oil refinery in Kazakhstan.
Air Liquide Munay Tech Gases LLP (France) and Silleno LLP announced the signing of an agreement for the supply and purchase of industrial gases. As part of the project, air separation units will be constructed in the Atyrau Region to produce nitrogen for the future polyethylene complex.
An agreement was also announced for the supply of wind turbines for the 200 MW Mirny Wind Farm. By 2028, a total of 26 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8 MW, will be manufactured and delivered in Kazakhstan.
The agreements were signed during the Kazakhstan–European Union Roundtable and are aimed at advancing industrial development, strengthening the energy sector and transport infrastructure, enhancing human capital, and accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies.
