The modernization of Almaty CHP-2 provides for the conversion of the station to natural gas, which will significantly improve the environmental situation of the city. After completion of the work in 2026, emissions will be reduced by almost 14 times – from 37.3 thousand tons to 2.7 thousand tons per year. Increase in electric capacity from 510 to 557 MW will be also provided.

A combined cycle gas plant is under construction as part of the reconstruction of CHP-3. The implementation of the project will increase the electric capacity of the plant from 173 to 544 MW and partially cover the shortage of maneuverable capacities in the Southern zone of Kazakhstan.

Nurlan Zhakupov also inspected the readiness of the facilities of AlES JSC for operation in the autumn-winter period.

As part of the visit to the CHP, there were planted trees – a contribution to the ecology and the future of the city.
