Nurlan Zhakupov, the Head of Samruk-Kazyna, met with Ms. Lisa Scalpone, Head of Global Consumer Relations at Amazon Project Kuiper, in New York.

The parties discussed the issues of cooperation, in particular, with Kazakhtelecom on providing the republic with satellite Internet from Amazon Kuiper.

Two documents were signed: the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Fund and Kuiper Systems LLC, and Distribution Agreement between Kazakhtelecom JSC and Amazon Kuiper Commercial Services.

The cooperation will provide high-speed satellite Internet to residents of Kazakhstan, including in remote regions, and improve the integration of the country’s digital infrastructure with large technology companies.

Kazakhtelecom JSC signed a contract with Amazon Kuiper Commercial Services, which will provide access to the Internet and digital services to Kazakhstanis from remote regions of the republic in the future.

This solution will also be an important step in the digitalization of remote production sites where there is no Internet access today.

Amazon Kuiper plans to invest in Kazakhstan’s ground infrastructure to create a local technical base.

“I am sure that our cooperation will bring significant results and become an additional tool for the development of digital infrastructure”, -Zhakupov noted.

Amazon Kuiper is a project by Amazon to deploy an orbital constellation of satellites to provide high-speed internet access to remote and hard-to-reach areas of the planet.
