The EBRD is a long-standing partner of Samruk-Kazyna. Throughout the history of cooperation, the Bank has provided more than €4 billion to finance the projects of the Fund’s group of companies in the energy, mining, oil and gas, and logistics sectors. 

The parties noted the progress on current projects, and also discussed further work to improve the procurement system of Samruk-Kazyna.

The EBRD plays a key role in the project of connecting the electricity grid of Western Kazakhstan to the Unified Energy System of the country. The Fund’s portfolio company, KEGOC, uses Samruk-Kazyna’s procurement rules, which made it possible to conclude an agreement with the international financial institute.

During the meeting, the EBRD President once again emphasized the progressivity of Samruk-Kazyna’s procurement rules.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has recognized the Fund’s procurement system as meeting international standards. The Fund is the only institution in the world (outside the EU) whose system has been officially verified by the EBRD.
