During the conversation, Nurlan Zhakupov noted the significant role of the bank in supporting strategic projects in Kazakhstan. Two key projects were highlighted as examples of successful cooperation.:

• Atyrau refinery (KazMunayGas JSC). In 2012, China’s Eximbank provided $1.13 billion for the construction of a deep oil refining complex at the Atyraurefinery.

• Renovation of the locomotive fleet (KTZ). In October 2023, JSC NC KTZ and CRRC signed a Framework Agreement for the supply of 200 diesel locomotives. The project is funded by Exim Bank of China and provides for the construction of service centers in Semey, Atyrau, Mangystau region and others.

The Fund highly appreciates the bank’s contribution to infrastructure development and strives to strengthen the partnership, Zhakupov noted.
