The container hub, which was commissioned by the Head of State in September 2023, was put into operation ahead of schedule.

The project was implemented by JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ Express JSC) together with the port of Lianyungang (one of the largest ports in China) and JSC NC Aktau International Commercial Sea Port.

The new hub will strengthen Kazakhstanэs transit potential on the East–West route and has become an important link in the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). The facility is equipped with a modern crane, which has no analogues in the country.

The start of work was marked by the arrival of the 100,000th container from China.

The opening ceremony brought together representatives of the Akimat, the management of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, international partners and logistics companies.

“Our portfolio company KTZ has been cooperating with the port of Lianyungang for more than ten years. During this time, a Kazakh-Chinese terminal was built in the port of Lianyungang, and the Khorgos Gateway Dry Port is successfully operating. The container hub in Aktau is a consistent continuation of a great collaboration. This project is an important stage in the development of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics system and the result of a long—term strategic partnership with our Chinese colleagues”, - Nurlan Zhakupov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Kazyna JSC, said.
