Samruk-Kazyna Fund hosted a meeting of the Public Council in Astana under the chairmanship of Bolat Zhamishev. The event was dedicated to the preparation for the autumn-winter period of heat supply facilities, networks and electric power infrastructure of Samruk-Energy JSC and KEGOC JSC.

The Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC Kairat Maksutov told about the progress of the repair campaign of Ekibastuz GRES-1 and GRES-2 in 2023, Almaty CHP and about implementation of investment projects at the energy facilities of Samruk-Energy JSC. This year, a large-scale repair of the Almaty energy complex is planned for Alatau Zharyk Companiyasy JSC. To date, all work has been completed for 100%. The total coal reserves in the warehouses of the company’s thermal power plants are provided with 791.5 thousand tons, that is, regulatory reserves are provided. The volume of electricity production by subsidiaries of Samruk-Energy JSC for 8 months of 2023 amounted to 23 billion kWh, which is 101% of the plan. The release of thermal energy amounted to 4.0 million Gcal. The volume of electricity transmission (AZHC JSC) is 5.7 billion kWh. The volume of coal sales (Bogatyr Komir LLP) is 27.7 million tons. Thus, all indicators have been completed in excess of the planned ones.

This year, KEGOC plans to carry out repair work at 574 facilities for KZT2.5 billion. For 9M 2023, 485 objects were repaired, which is 84% of the annual plan. According to the schedule, repair work on the networks and equipment of substations will be completed by the end of October, and in November-December, work on buildings, structures and transport will be completed. The CPC readiness passport will be received by October 19 this year.

By 2019, the company has completed the 2nd stage of the modernization project of the national power grid of Kazakhstan. 67 electrical substations have been upgraded, and 100% of relay protection and emergency automation equipment has been replaced. In addition, to date, more than 80% of the equipment of electrical substations has been replaced. KEGOC JSC continues to work on the development of the National Electric Grid. By the end of 2023, the work will be completed on two projects: “Reconstruction of 220-500 kV overhead lines of the branches of KEGOC JSC “Aktobe IEN”, “Western IEN” and “Sarybai IEN” and “Strengthening of the power grids of the Western region of the UES of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Construction of electric grid facilities”. In addition, the Company has started implementation of the project “Strengthening the power grids of the Southern region of the UES of Kazakhstan” according to the schedule.

Following the meeting, Bolat Zhamishev gave the companies a number of recommendations. He also emphasized the importance of such meetings. “We did not gather the Public Council to say that everything is fine in the electricity sector. Our goal is to discuss such important issues in the activities of Samruk-Kazyna and its subsidiaries together with professional experts and convey them to the public through media representatives, that is, to convey what work is being done at the Fund,” said the Chairman of the Public Council.
