The Chairman of the Management Board Nurlan Zhakupov visited the enterprises of the Ekibastuz energy complex owned by Samruk-Energy. During the visit, the Head of the Fund checked the preparations for the upcoming heating period and got acquainted with implementation of investment projects at the main energy facilities of the region.

The first visited facility was the Bogatyr coal mine. Bogatyr Komir is the largest open-pit coal mining company in Kazakhstan. Nurlan Zhakupov gotacquainted with the progress of the project on cyclic flow technology of coal supply. The company annually supplies about 42 million tons of coal to energy-producing organizations in Kazakhstan and Russia. It is planned to complete the CPT project in August this year with a phased attainment of projected capacity. This will increase the shipment of coal to consumers.

The next was the power plant Ekibastuz GRES-1 named after Bulat Nurzhanov, which is the flagship of Kazakhstan’s energy industry. After commissioning of power unit No. 1 at the end of this year, the total installed capacity of the station will reach4000 MW. In 2022, the plant generated 23 billion kWh of electric energy, which is a record figure. Nurlan Zhakupov noted the importance of the station’s readiness for the upcoming heating season of 2023-2024 and gave a task to complete the repair campaign and timely accumulation of coal reserves. The progress of the project on restoration of power unit No. 1 was also marked.

At the end of the Samruk-Kazyna delegation visited Ekibastuz GRES-2. The station generates about 6 billion kWh of electricity annually and provides the village of Solnechny with thermal energy. Currently, a priority project on the construction of the 3rd block is implemented, the project is under the special control of the Fund and the country’s leadership.

Nurlan Zhakupov appreciated the work done by the enterprises in Ekibastuzand stressed the importance of further development and effective work of companies within the Samruk-Kazyna Group.
