As part of the visit of the Emir of Qatar to the Astana International Forum, Samruk-Kazyna JSC jointly with KazakhInvest and the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Qatar held a Kazakh-Qatari business meeting. The event gatheredtogether senior representatives of government agencies and business communities, confirming the commitment of both sides to strengthening economic ties. The Qatari delegation was headed by the Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Khalifa Al-Thani, accompanied by the Qatar Business Association, the Qatar Financial Center, and the Heads of large private businesses. The Heads of the Fund, portfolio companies, KazakhInvest, BaiterekNMH, Chamber of Commerce, KIDF and private companies, represented the Kazakhstani party.

Opening the event, N. Zhakupov noted the successful co-chairmanship together with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Kazakhstan-Qatar Business Council, and also stressed the importance of further development of partnership.

During the meeting, investment opportunities within the Samruk-Kazyna Group of Companies were presented to Qatari companies, the main directions for mutually beneficial cooperation were announced; including traditional and “green”energy. During the active dialogue between the businesses of the two countries, agreements were reached to continue negotiations on specific projects.

Within the framework of the meeting, the investment attractiveness of the Zhambyl region was also presented.  

At the end of the official part, the signing ceremony of bilateral documents took place, including the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between JSC NC KazakhInvest and Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar, Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between KazakhInvest and Qatari Businessmen Association, Memorandum of Understanding on creation of joint investment funds between Baiterek NMH, CISC, Power International holding in the field of milk production, Framework Agreement on the Basic Principles of Implementation of the Project for the construction of a medical hub in Astana between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan and EleganciaHealth Care.
