The Center for Scientific and Technological Initiatives (CSTI) “Samgau” under Samruk-Kazyna was established last year as a single operator of support for scientific projects in Kazakhstan at the expense of the Fund Group companies.

It should be recalled that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-JomartTokayev spoke about the establishment of the Center for Scientific and Technological Initiatives (CSTI) under Samruk-Kazyna JSC, where the subsoil user companies deduct 1% of the production costs.

“It is necessary to stimulate private investment in R&D. Along with the state budget, the funds of subsoil users and national companies, the key source of funding for science should be the large private sector – industrial corporations and other organizations”, - the Head of State said at the solemn session in Almaty dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.

The CSTI has developed and presented the principles of selection and evaluation of applications of Kazakhstani scientists for funding. To date, the Center has already received more than 30 projects.

The selection procedure consists of six stages:

1. The applicant submits a preliminary application via the website https://www.csti.kz/ or by e-mail application@csti.kz

2. The CSTI evaluates it for compliance with priority areas.

3. The applicant submits a full application according to the approved form.

4. The CSTI organizes external scientific and financial expertise of the project.

5. Additional financial and economic expertise is carried out for projects that correspond to industrial research and prototyping.

6. The Scientific and Technical Council is considering the application.
