Samruk-Kazyna and Chinese Companies to Agree to Cooperate in the Oil and Gas, Energy, Transport and Postal Industries

The companies of the Samruk-Kazyna Group signed agreements on enhancing cooperation with Chinese partners. The documents were signed in Xi’an (China) as part of the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan.

Samruk-Kazyna and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation with Chinese CPIH and SANY to create a wind farm with a capacity of 1 GW in Zhambyl region. It will increase the total renewable generation capacity in Kazakhstan by 40%. An energy storage facility will be constructed next to the wind farm to compensate for fluctuations in wind power generation when wind speed changes.

Samruk-Kazyna and Power China signed a memorandum of understanding to increase the capacity of the wind farm in the Shelek corridor of Almaty region from 60 to 810 MW. Among other things, it is planned to build a HPP, the capacity of which will also balance the unevenness of the wind farm’s electricity generation. This will increase the projected volumes of renewable generation in Kazakhstan by another 30%.

KazMunayGas and SINOPEC signed an agreement on the principles of the Chinese company’s entry into the project of construction of a gas processing plant for the production of polyethylene near Atyrau. To date, the Russian SIBUR is already participating in the project. KMG and QazaqGaz also signed agreements on expanding cooperation with the Chinese CNPC in the fields of exploration, transportation and export of oil and gas from Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Chinese partners opened a logistics terminal in Xi’an in the presence of the President of Kazakhstan to increase cargo turnover between the countries. Kazpost signed a memorandum with UBI Smart Parcel (Shenzhen) Limited to improve the access of Kazakhstanis to eBay, Alibaba, JD, PDD, WiSH and Amazon sites.
