Today, the management of Samruk-Kazyna has taken part in the launch ceremony of the new underground high-pressure gas pipeline with a length of 60 km in Mangystau region. It connected Kuryk village with Sarsha locality and Warm Beach resort area near Aktau. The President of Kazakhstan instructed to gasify them in September 2021. The work was carried out by KazTransGaz Aimak, member organization of the Samruk-Kazyna group.
Now Aktau and its suburbs are experiencing rapid development. Thanks to the gas pipeline, a new desalination plant, agricultural greenhouses, hotels, residential buildings, and an amusement park are expected to appear here in the near future. The new gas pipeline will provide clean fuel not only to the new resort area, but also to the regional center itself. It will loop the gas distribution networks of the city and increase the reliability of gas supply to its residents.
Tourism development
Gasification of seaside areas will help develop their resort potential and ensure year-round operation. This is especially important given the ever-growing tourist flow to Mangystau region.
Five existing recreation centers, as well as future hotels and entertainment centers that are planned to be built here, will be connected to the new gas pipeline.
Water desalination
Gasification will also solve the problem of water scarcity in the region. One of the main consumers of new volumes of gas should be the desalination plant with a capacity of 50 m3/hour with a gas turbine station, which is planned to be built to provide water and electricity to Zhetibai and Kuryk villages.
“The water supply of Mangystau region is a priority for the companies of the Samruk-Kazyna group, many of which work here. We are already actively engaged in this: we are expanding the Astrakhan-Mangyshlak water pipeline, the desalination plant has been built in Karazhanbas, it is planned to build the desalination plant in Kenderli village,” Gibrat Auganov, Managing Director of the Fund, said.
Agricultural industry
Gasification will also fuel the development of agriculture in the region. Due to the harsh desert conditions, there is practically no farmland in Mangystau region. Agricultural products are produced in greenhouses, which need fuel to work.
The needs of agricultural producers for gas have already been incorporated into the capacity of the gas pipeline, which is being launched today.
