Samruk-Kazyna to Build a Unique National Research Center for Infectious Diseases in Almaty

The Fund has allocated about KZT130 billion for creation of the National Scientific Center for Infectious Diseases. The construction should be completedby December. After completion of construction and commissioning, the facility will be transferred to the ownership of the state represented by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Today, the Head of Samruk-Kazyna Nurlan Zhakupov visited the construction site of the future clinic. He noted that it would become the largest research and clinical center not only in the region, but also in the entire CIS. “The events of recent years prove that the presence of a large infectious disease research center with a clinical department is not just a necessity, but a matter of national security”, - the manager said. He personally checked the progress of construction and discussed with the contractor the completion of all work on time.
The construction of the hospital started in October 2021. It is designed for 350 modern equipped beds. The facility will become a clinical base for Kazakhstani doctors, scientists and students of medical universities in Almaty. The new center will provide medical care in the field of infectious diseases, pulmonology and phthisiology, conduct research and training, concentrate advanced medical technologies, study medicines. In addition, it is planned to open a situation center based on the new facility to monitor the epidemiological situation in the country.
The facility will be equipped with unique security technologies.
Speaking about the Fund’s contribution to the development of medicine in Kazakhstan, Nurlan Zhakupov noted that just a few days ago, on April 26, a medical train left Almaty, launched at the expense of the Samruk-Kazyna Group of Companies. During the year, the doctors will provide medical care to residents of remote stations across the country.

The total area of the hospital site is 12 hectares. Building area of buildings and structures: 31,723 sq. m. Bed capacity – 350 beds. The purpose of the project is to provide high-quality medical care in conditions of an unfavorable epidemiological situation and a state of emergency, to represent a Situation center for monitoring the epidemiological situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In the future, the Center for Infectious Diseases will become the clinical base of the National Scientific Center for Infectious Diseases, a branch of the Scientific Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology named after Hamza Zhumatovof the NCPHC of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Department of Infectious Profile of the Asfendiyarov KazNMU, the Department of the Kazakh Medical University of Continuing Education.
The estimated cost of the project is KZT130 049.48 million, including construction and installation works - KZT62 261, 41 million, medical, technological and engineering equipment - KZT66 343.32 million.
