The digital transformation updated program of Samruk-Kazyna JSC has shown its resilience during the pandemic crisis. This was stated during the briefing by Dauren Kereybayev, Managing Director for Digitalization and Transformation of Samruk-Kazyna  JSC.

According to him, an example of this is the successful experience of digitalization, thanks to which a group of companies managed to transfer up to 84% or more than 20 thousand of administrative personnel to remote work at one time without compromising productivity and efficiency.

D. Kereybayev noted that after the concept was updated last year, the transformation program focused on transforming and improving management and production processes, as well as focusing on projects in the field of key business of companies, people development and security, including information.

He also noted that many people mistakenly believe that transformation is about cost optimization, whereas it is about continual improvement of business processes.

As a result, already this year, the net benefits from the implementation of transformation projects in the group of companies Samruk-Kazyna JSC amounted to KZT29 bln.

“Each project of the company carries real benefits, expressed in financial and non-financial terms. From 2020 to 2024, we expect to receive 130 billion tenge of net benefits from the transformation. Transformation is a permanent process of improving the business of our portfolio companies. This is achieved through process optimization, technological changes and innovative solutions. Thus, we increase their efficiency and competitiveness and, as a result, profitability ", - D. Kereybaev skazad

Talking about the real benefits of transformation, Dauren Kereybayev emphasized that the fund moved away from calculating benefits by the benchmark, that is, the comparative method. Now a financial and economic model of each project is being built, which takes into account all the specifics of the company and the market, is checked by the financial and economic unit and only after the approval of the calculations is included in the company's business plan.

“In total, at the end of 2019, we had 149 projects and events in six portfolio companies - Kazatomprom, KTZ, KMG, Kazpost, Samruk-Energo and KEGOC. Actual net benefits amounted to KZT28 bln in 2018, KZT69 bln in 2019”, - D. Kereybayev noted.

One such example is the ABAI intelligent system based on Big Data technology, developed by KMG Engineering specialists. Artificial intelligence is helping to identify oil deposits that geologists may have missed. Similar technologies of the "smart" field are already used at some of the "Embamunaigas", "Kazgermunai", "Ozenmunaigas" fields.

D. Kereybayev added that the fund has also introduced a mechanism for the constant search for new solutions. Currently, the fund's portfolio companies are considering more than 50 new ideas and initiatives. In particular, an extended meeting was held yesterday with the participation of Akhmetzhan Yesimov, Chairman of the Board of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, at which the perimeter of the participants in the digital transformation program expanded to six companies.
