As part of the Fund's transition to a new organizational structure Bitenov Gani was appointed Managing Director for Legal Support and Risks of «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC. He will oversee the legal issues, risks and corporate governance of the Fund and portfolio companies, as well as a new direction - compliance.

According to the new functional model of the Fund, the group of companies has introduced feature designed to minimize compliance risks. This involves ensuring transparency and compliance of business activities of the group, officials and employees of the applicable law, the requirements of the best international standards, internal and other requirements.

Gani Bitenov, 36 y.o, Doctor of Civil Law, McGill University (Montreal, Canada), defended doctoral thesis «The regulation of trade in oil and gas in the regime of the World Trade Organization: trade rules against the realities of the oil and gas industry»; Master of Laws (LLM), University of Aberdeen (Aberdeen, UK); Master of Economics (MA), Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics and Strategic Research under the President of RK (KIMEP).  He attended training courses at Harvard University, and other well-known international institutions.

He is an arbitrator of the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre.

Work experience in various management positions for over 10 years in international (Bracewell & Giuliani) and Kazakh law firms.

He represented the interests of EBRD, Merrill Lynch International, JPMorgan Chase Bank NA and other global investment banks in the projects worth hundreds of millions of US dollars. He also worked in JSC «NAC» Kazatomprom”, JSC «EP «KazMunayGas», Development Bank of Kazakhstan and the largest second-tier banks of Kazakhstan.

He was responsible for the department of the protection of property rights of the State Ministry of Justice, where defended the interests of the Republic of Kazakhstan in international investment disputes with the amounts of claims worth hundreds of millions of US dollars. He headed the Department for Legal Support of International and Treasury Operations of the Eurasian Development Bank.

This candidate was selected in a joint project with the NGO KazAlliance. The scope of this association is more than 70 student organizations from 27 countries of the world. It includes 50 thousand Kazakhstanis who temporarily or permanently live and work abroad, graduates of foreign universities, representatives of communities of Kazakhstan. In 2015 “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC held two awareness-raising sessions among participants of KazAlliance in London and Beijing.

It should be noted, according to the new organizational structure of «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC the top management is expected to reduce twice. In particular, the position of Deputy Chairman of the Management Board was abolished.
